The Ramblers go on the warpath

The campaign against the proposed manor and eco-lodges at Baldwins Farm, Mountfield, made headlines in the Kent and Sussex Courier this week in an article headlined Ramblers on the warpath over landowner’s plan for manor house.  The Ramblers Association’s East Sussex area footpaths secretary Malcolm McDonnell is quoted as saying:

“The footpath provides splendid views of Darwell reservoir shining through the trees, and to the west the wooded hills of Dallington Forest provide an alpine feel with an accompanying sense of remoteness. Mr Duggleby wants to deny the public all this.”

This adds to the publicity last week when the Battle and Rye Observer reported on the standing-room only meeting of Mountfield Parish Council, at which the plans were universally condemned.
