Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings “strongly objects” to Baldwins Farmhouse restoration plans

The Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) has slammed the plans for the “restoration” of Baldwins Farmhouse. They say:

We … object strongly to this listed building consent application and we urge the local authority to refuse permission in the hope that a more sensitive scheme can be agreed.

the existing and proposed drawings submitted by the architect … do not show clearly the nature and extent of the intended works

We would be deeply concerned about the wholesale replacement of the historic fabric of the walls

disruptive and damaging work. .. detrimental to the character of the listed building.

1 Response to Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings “strongly objects” to Baldwins Farmhouse restoration plans

  1. David Whitewood says:

Hmmm I note that there was no objection to the new barn at Hunters Farm for storage of agricultural equipment. Not a lot of agriculture going on there! Presumably this will be followed by an application to convert the historic barns for holiday/ living accommodation.
Not that I object to either. Hunters is investing in the local economy in a sustainablevway.
However, I am confused at the potential lack of consistency from RDC and the protesters?
